The sixth day of the 2007 legislative session was called to order by Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle.
Senator Don Balfour of the 9th stated that the journal had been read and was found to be correct.
Senate Bills 5 and 31-39, and Senate Resolution 63 were then read for the first time and assigned to committees. The clerk of the Secretary then read the reports of standing committees.
Following the morning roll call, Lt. Gov. Cagle recognized Sen. Ed Tarver of the 22nd, who led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. He then introduced the Chaplain of the Day, Reverend Ralph Jordan of Trinity C.M.E. Church in Augusta, who led the Senate in the daily devotional.
There were no Points of Personal Privilege.
SR 54-62, 64 and 65 were read and adopted. House Resolution 41 was read and adopted, calling for a joint session of the Senate and the House of Representatives for the purpose of hearing the State of the Judiciary from Chief Justice of the Georgia Supreme Court Leah Ward Sears on Wednesday, January 24.
Following the announcements, Majority Leader Tommie Williams of the 19th then moved that the Senate stand adjourned until 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 24.
