The third day of the 2006 legislative session was called to order by Lieutenant Governor Mark Taylor.
Senator Don Thomas of the 54th stated that the journal had been read and was found to be correct.
Senate Bills 398-404 and Senate Resolution 675 were read for the first time and assigned to committee.
Following the second reading of Senate Bills and Resolutions, the morning roll call was taken.
Lt. Gov. Taylor then recognized Sen. Valencia Seay of the 34th to lead the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance, and to introduce the Chaplain of the Day, Reverend Edward Johnson of Flat Rock AME Church in Fayetteville. Rev. Johnson then led the Senate in the daily devotional.
Sen. Brian Kemp of the 46th took the well on a Point of Personal Privilege to share reports from the State's public safety departments that were presented at a meeting of the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee yesterday.
Sen. Greg Goggans of the 7th took the well to invite Senators to the Okefenokee Occasion tonight at the Georgia Railroad Freight Depot.
SR 662-675 were then read and adopted.
Majority Leader Tommie Williams of the 19th then moved to withdraw SB 393 from Natural Resources and commit it to the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee.
Without objection, SB 393 was recommitted to the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee.

The Local Consent Calendar, consisting of HB 780, passed by a vote of 52 to 0. Sen. John Wiles of the 37th moved that the Senate adopt the Conference Committee Report on SB 203. He then asked for unanimous consent to waive the one-hour rule on Conference Committee Reports. Sen. Regina Thomas of the 2nd objected. Sen. Wiles then withdrew his motion to adopt the Conference Committee Report. Following the announcements, Majority Leader Williams moved to stand adjourned until 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 12.
