Over the year, employment in Georgia has dropped by 215,100, or -4.6 percent. Leisure and hospitality (-85,700 jobs), education and health services (-28,000), professional and business services (-24,000 jobs), and government (-21,600 jobs) have lost the most jobs from January 2020 to January 2021.
Georgia's unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted) declined to 5.1 percent in January 2021 from 5.3 percent in December 2020. Over the year, the unemployment rate is up from 3.3 percent in January 2020.
