After five consecutive months of employment growth Government jobs in the state fell by 900 in July. Federal employment grew by 300 in July while state and local employment decreased by 200 and 1 000 respectively. Education and Health Services saw jobs declined by 400 in July the first decline after eleven straight months of job growth. Educational Services employment grew by 1 000 in July and Health Care and Social Assistance employment fell by 1 400 over the month.

Over the year employment in Georgia is up 74 300 or 1.6 percent. Professional and Business Services ( 16 700 jobs) Education and Health Services ( 15 900 jobs) Construction ( 12 400 jobs) and Leisure and Hospitality ( 11 600 jobs) have added the most jobs over the year.
Georgia s unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted) declined to 3.6 percent in July 2019 from 3.7 percent in June. Over the year the unemployment rate is down from 3.8 percent in July 2018.
