Leisure and Hospitality jobs in the state declined by 6,100 in April after being up 3,000 in March. Arts, Entertainment, and Recreation employment was down 2,900 and Accommodation and Food Services saw jobs fall 3,200 over the month. Trade, Transportation, and Utilities employment decreased by 3,700 in April. Wholesale Trade employment fell by 3,700, Transportation and Warehousing shed 500 jobs, and Retail Trade employment was up 400. Professional and Business Services lost 3,300 jobs in April. Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services cut 1,900 positons and Administrative and Support Service employment was down 1,500.

Over the year, employment in Georgia has grown by 69,700, or 1.5 percent. Education and Health Services (+18,900 jobs); Professional and Business Services (+14,700 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+13,500 jobs); Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+9,300 jobs) added the most jobs over the year. From April to April, the Information (-4,700 jobs) sector has the most job losses.
In April 2019, Georgia's unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted) dropped to 3.8 percent from 3.9 percent in March. Over the year, the unemployment rate is down from 4.1 percent in April 2018.
