Professional and Business Services employment was down 1,800 in October. Administrative and Support Services shed 3,200 jobs, Management of Companies employment was down by 300, and Professional and Technical Services employment grew by 1,700 in October. Construction employment declined for the third consecutive month as 1,600 jobs were lost in October. Manufacturing employment decreased by 800 in October after a run of eight straight months of job gains. Over the month, Durable Goods lost 2,400 jobs, and Non-Durable Goods employment was up 800. Other Services employment contracted by 800 in October after being down 1,800 in September.

Over the year, employment in Georgia has increased by 72,500, or 1.6 percent. Education and Health Services (+23,800 jobs); Leisure and Hospitality (+20,200 jobs); Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+9,200 jobs); and Construction and Government (+6,100 jobs each) have added the most jobs over the year.
Georgia's unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted) declined to 3.4 percent in October 2019 from 3.5 percent in September. Over the year, the unemployment rate is down from 3.7 percent in October 2018.
