New Developments
Irish firm Voxpro has announced plans to create more than 500 jobs in Georgia as it sets up a new "center of excellence." The technology support provider and customer service company will invest $4 million in its planned Athens-Clarke County facility by 2020. The company will be located in the Press Place building near the Athens Banner Herald. Headquartered in Cork, Ireland, Voxpro, employs more than 1,700 people worldwide and has offices in Dublin, Ireland; San Francisco, California; and Folsom, California with current clients including clients including Google, Airbnb and Nest. Voxpro provides a range of business services, such as multilingual customer experience and technical support, safety monitoring, social media management and product insight.
Footwear manufacturer Adidas recently announced that it will open a futuristic "Speedfactory" in late 2017 in Cherokee County. The German shoemaker plans to make shoes their at a robot-powered assembly plant. The highly-automated facility will employ about 160 people and is expected to produce 50,000 shoes next year. The Cherokee County plant will be located in the Cherokee 75 Corporate Park along Highway 92 just east of Interstate 75 and will be a 74,000-square-foot facility initially focusing on running shoes.
Cheddar's Casual Cafe recently opened a location in Albany. The new restaurant, located on North Westover Boulevard, next to Sam's Club, is the tenth Cheddar's location owned and operated by Macon-based C&P Restaurant Co. The Albany location is over 8,400 square feet and can hold a maximum of 324 people. C&P looks to initially hire around 200 employees for the restaurant.
Terminus has announced that it is expanding its headquarters in Atlanta. The mar-
keting software company has said it will invest $1.5 million towards an expansion in Buckhead that will create more than 100 jobs over the next few years. As part of the expansion, Terminus will sublease over 23,000 square feet of space at the Terminus 100 office tower in Buckhead. The company helps marketers target, engage and grow their marketing and sales pipeline.
Radial, a former eBay Enterprise company, has said it plans to add 1,250 workers for the upcoming holiday season at its facilities in Lawrenceville and Brunswick. The Brunswick call center, where nearly 600 year-round workers are located, will add 1,150 of the new employees while the other 100 new workers will be located at the distribution center in Lawrenceville. Radial business focus is on selling software to retailers that processes online customer payments, prevents fraudulent orders, handles customer service, lets retailers see their inventory inside stores and at warehouses, gives online customers access to buy from inventory at stores, and fulfills and routes customers' orders quickly.
Cordele Intermodal Services (CIS), Georgia's first inland terminal located in Cordele, has said it will partner with Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, to handle up to 30,000 TEU (Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit) containers per year to supply the Kia manufacturing plant in West Point. This partnership will save over 6 million truck miles each year as Kia will move auto parts via rail from the Port of Savannah to the inland terminal in Cordele and then to West Point via motor carrier. This agreement allows trucks carrying Kia parts to make much shorter hauls between Cordele and West Point.
