New Developments
The Atlanta Braves and Comcast have a planned deal that will allow the cable and media company to occupy an entire nine-story office tower planned in the mixed use complex next to the new $672 million ballpark now under construction in Cobb County. The complex will include a hotel, office space, apartments and stores. The Philadelphia-based cable giant plans to house about 1,000 employees there. The new stadium, named SunTrust Park, and the commercial complex are scheduled to open in 2017. The plan calls for it to include 1.3 million to 1.5 million square feet of commercial space, a hotel with 250 to 300 rooms; 300,000 square feet of retail space; about 600 units of housing; and a 50,000-square foot indoor music venue.
WebstaurantStore, an e-commerce brand that sells restaurant equipment and supplies headquartered in Lancaster, PA, recently announced that it will create 150 jobs and invest $10 million into a distribution and fulfillment center in Albany over the next three years. WebstaurantStore will locate to an existing 472,000-squarefoot facility. The company's Albany distribution center will serve clients in the Southeast and will help meet the company's goal of providing one-day shipping to its customers. Hiring is expected to begin in December 2015.
Applied System Inc., a Chicago-based insurance software firm, plans to expand in the Atlanta area. The planned expansion into the area will bring up to 150 jobs. Applied Systems has signed a lease for nearly 21,000 square feet of office space in the Buckhead Tower at Lenox Square.
ITC Security Partners, a professional expert security services provider, has said it will locate its headquarters to West Point. The company plans to expand its existing facility by 10,000 square feet to accommodate the company's headquarter operations. The move is expected to bring 90 jobs over the next three years. ITC Security Partners' strategic partnership with an elite group of K9 detection and security businesses positions the company with unmatched
strengths and experience. ITC also offers an extensive selection of K9 handler, training and instructor courses with a broad in-depth curriculum. More than 3,000 law enforcement K9s have been sold domestically and internationally.
Software company BetterCloud recently raised $25 million and has announced plans to invest most of it into expanding its Atlanta-based software development headquarters. BetterCloud develops enterpriselevel security and management products built for Google Apps and Microsoft Office 365 -- cloud-based workforce productivity platforms that include a suite of business email, information sharing and security applications. Their software makes working in Google Apps and Office 365 easier and more secure. The company plans to add about 120 jobs at its Atlanta research & development center and looks to expand from its current 6,000 square foot office to a 21,000 square foot space.
Caterpillar, a worldwide machinery and engine manufacturer, will expand its Caterpillar Forest Products facility in LaGrange, creating 50 jobs and investing $25 million into the project. Caterpillar's Forest Products business unit has been operating in LaGrange for nearly 20 years. It offers a complete manufactured line of forestry equipment and machines that help with road building, millyard and reforestation, and purpose-built machines that harvest, extract and load lumber.
