New Developments

Aalto Scientific, a California biotechnology company that provides human and animal sera, and human protein to the medical diagnostics industry, will create 80 jobs when it moves its headquarters to Putnam County in 2015. Construction on the $9 million facility in Eatonton began in January. It is on 26 acres in Rock Eagle Technology Park. The operations in Eatonton will include a 76,000-square-foot production and warehouse facility and a 15,000-square-foot space to house its AUDIT MicroControls Inc. subsidiary.
A Korean-based manufacturer, Jinsung TEC Inc., recently announced that it will locate to Oakwood in Hall County, creating 30 new jobs and investing $10 million over the next five years. The company is a leading producer of heavy construction equipment parts in Korea and the new location in Oakwood will supply idlers to the Caterpillar plant near Athens. Jinsung TEC will locate in Oakwood South Industrial Park on Rafe Banks Drive.
Coyote MFG Co. is planning to invest $2.5 million into a manufacturing facility in Nashville, which is about 35 miles north of Valdosta. The company manufactures parts for boats and is planning to create 100 jobs in south Georgia over the next two years. Coyote is planning to open a nearly 110,000 square-foot facility that will manufacture steel and aluminum boat trailers, arches, leaning posts and more.
Medical products corporation Halyard Health, currently known as Kimberly-Clark Health Care, plans to hire up to 200 employees in Alpharetta as it separates itself from its Fortune 500 parent. The company will move its headquarters from Roswell to Alpharetta in a new 174,000-square-foot facility as part of the split. Dallas-based Kimberly-Clark, maker of Huggies and Kleenex, announced earlier that it planned to spin-off its health care business. Halyard Health plans to hire new workers in several divisions, including finance, legal, research and compliance.
A Japan-based chemical company recently announced that it will establish its North American headquarters at Georgia's first eco-friendly park. The Otsuka Chemical America, Inc.

headquarters will be located on a 35-acre site in The Lakes at Green Valley industrial park on Georgia Highway 16 in Spalding County and create 32 jobs. The facility will manufacture titanate friction materials for automotive brake pads, an extension of the company's existing chemical production businesses. Otsuka Chemical is a diversified Japanese chemical manufacturer that offers products for a wide range of applications, including the automotive, construction and pharmaceutical industries. The location of the Otsuka Chemical America headquarters and manufacturing facility is considered the first eco-park in Georgia and resulted from a partnership between the Griffin-Spalding Development Authority and Georgia Tech.
Zirconium and titanium sands have been mined in southeast Georgia for decades. Mississippi based chemical manufacturer Southern Ionics Inc. will spend more than $100 million on three facilities in Georgia to continue the process. The company plans to extract zirconium and titanium minerals from a sand ridge that stretches between Folkston and Nahunta. Southern Ionics completed the construction of the Mission South Mine in Charlton County, which will soon be joined by the adjacent Mission North Mine in Brantley County and a mineral sand processing plant in Pierce County. By 2015, the company plans to employ over 100 people at the three facilities.
Marketing automation company Marketo Inc. of San Mateo, CA has announced plans to expand to Atlanta. The company will open a sales and customer support office in Buckhead, where it will initially create 30 to 40 jobs. Atlanta's enterprise software talent, coupled with the region's roots as a businessto-business town, makes the city attractive to marketing automation companies. Marketo's on-demand software helps its businessto-business customers manage marketing campaigns and generate sales leads. Marketo also provides the analytics to forecast the impact of marketing on revenue and measure its return on investment.
