New Developments
An Atlanta-based digital marketing company, Cardlytics, announced plans to relocate to Ponce City Market in Atlanta. The Ponce de Leon Avenue location was once a massive warehouse complex. Cardlytics will take about 74,000 square feet, or roughly 17 percent of the office space in the building. The tech company connects retailers, banks and customers with targeted marketing based on consumer purchase data.
Seattle based Trident Seafoods plans to expand an existing 104,000-square-foot building in Carrollton that was once a former Chiquita food plant by an additional 43,000 square feet to produce a variety of oven-ready frozen food products. The plant will be located off Columbia Drive at 100 Performance Way in the West Georgia Industrial Park. The $41 million project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2014 with hiring to begin in 2014. Trident Seafoods catches and processes wild Alaska salmon, cod, crab and pollock for retail and food service customers.
Pratt & Whitney is relocating work to Columbus from a plant in San Antonio, Texas. The aerospace company will move into a building in Muscogee Technology Park where it took out a building permit in August 2013 to begin work on the industrial structure. When it opens in early 2014, the 105,620-square-foot facility is expected to initially create 45 jobs to overhaul F100 engines used in U.S. fighter jets, specifically the F-15 Eagle and the F-16 Fighting Falcon. The engines power all of the U.S. Air Force's F-15s and more than half of F-16s worldwide. The company's Columbus Engine Center currently overhauls V2500-A1 and A5 jet engines, which are used by commercial aircraft.
The pen maker Sharpie, a division of product giant Newell Rubbermaid, has planned to move its headquarters to the metro Atlanta area by the end of 2013. The move will bring with it over 60 jobs. Since Newell built its new 14-floor
corporate base in Sandy Springs in 2008, Sharpie will be the fifth Newell brand to move to metro Atlanta.
A Chinese chemical company, Hubei Xingfa Chemicals Group, has planned to open its U.S. headquarters and a manufacturing plant in Effingham County. The facility is expected to create 50 jobs and open in 2014. The company will build on an 83-acre site in an industrial park on Ebenezer Road, just off Ga. 21 in Rincon. Xingfa makes phosphate and fine chemicals that are used as additives in products such as toothpaste. The products made in Effingham County will be exported to North American markets through the port of Savannah.
Dieffenbacher's, a leading supplier for woodbased panel, recently expanded its south Forsyth manufacturing location with a customer support center. The service center will add around 13 new jobs and $1.2 million in capital investment to the facility off of McFarland Parkway in Forsyth. The new customer service center will provide spare parts and services for all of Dieffenbacher's customers in Canada and the U.S. Dieffenbacher is a family-owned company founded in Germany in 1873 and moved to Forsyth about two years ago.
Inalfa Roofing Systems, which manufactures vehicle sunroofs and roofing systems for the automobile industry, is opening a plant in Acworth in early 2014. The Cherokee County facility will be in the Cherokee 75 Corporate Park development located on Highway 92 about two miles east of Interstate 75. The company's move to Cherokee County will be a $17.1 million investment and provide an additional 300 jobs to the county. Inalfa is based in the Netherlands and the new Cherokee County plant would be the company's fourth plant in the U.S.
