DIRTT Environmental Solutions will be opening a manufacturing facility in Chatham County in Crossroads Business Park in Savannah. The company manufactures modular and movable walls. DIRTT walls are used for office interiors as an alternative to conventional studs and drywall construction. The walls support furniture and can be tilted down and moved to a new location when needed. The new 81,000 square foot plant is expected to open this spring and is expected to employ 150 people after the first two years of operation.
In Forsyth County Lou Sobh Honda will open a new automobile dealership on an 11.7 acre parcel of land in Cumming. The owner plans to invest approximately $20 million in the property, building, inventory and recurring payroll. The company is expected to create 85 new jobs along with an estimated $4 million payroll. Construction will begin as early as April at the intersection of Georgia Highway 141 and Majors Road and the dealership will open early in 2010.
Georgia Pacific has restarted its plywood plant in Jasper County that it had shuttered in the fall of 2007. The Monticello facility has two shifts that make veneer and currently employs about 45 people.

The Roy Richards Cancer Center, part of the Tanner Health System, has begun a $5.6 million expansion that will not only double its patient treatment capacity but will bring some of the latest technology for treating cancer to Carroll County. The addition of a second linear accelerator for radiation therapy will increase the Carrollton facility's capacity from 25 patients a day to 50 patients a
day. In addition, the new machine will bring new Rapid Arc technology, a quicker and more accurate radiation technology, to the hospital. The construction is scheduled to be completed in May, but the calibration and testing of the new equipment will push the opening back to July.
AECOM is hiring approximately 125 people to fill their positions at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Dougherty County. The company has been awarded the contract to perform maintenance work on Marine Corps ground combat vehicles at the Albany base.

The Woodbury manufacturer will add 10,000 square feet to its existing plant that makes specialized vehicles for emergency medical, law enforcement, and fire and rescue services. The $150,000 investment will result in 15 new jobs.
Meyn America, LLC is expanding its poultry processing equipment manufacturing operations in Cherokee County. The company was founded in 1959 and has grown into a world leader by investing considerable time and resources developing equipment that can stand alone or be integrated into a larger wall-to-wall system. The expansion will create an additional 25 positions in the Ball Ground plant.
