FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JOB FAIR FOR LAID-OFF WORKERS AND OTHERS SET FOR JULY 12 IN BLAKELY
ATLANTA -- The Georgia Department of Labor's Albany and Bainbridge offices, along with Albany Tech and the Early County Department of Family and Children Services, will sponsor a job fair next month for laid-off workers and other job seekers in the area.
The job fair will be held on Wednesday, July 12, from 1-6 p.m. at Albany Technical College's Early County Satellite Center, located off the Highway 27 By-Pass in Blakely.
While the job fair is open to all job seekers, it is being planned in response to a recent closing of the Arlington Apparel plant in Calhoun County. When the plant closed in May, about 155 workers were dislocated.
Labor department officials estimate that as many as 20 employers will participate in the job fair.
Applicants should bring copies of their resume or work history, dress appropriately, and be prepared to interview.
Also, applicants must be able to produce a Georgia driver's license or valid picture identification, along with a Social Security card or birth certificate. Original documents, not copies, will be required.
The Albany office serves Calhoun, Dougherty, Lee, and Terrell counties, while Bainbridge serves Decatur, Early, Miller, and Seminole.
For more information, applicants may call the labor department's Albany office at (912) 430-5010, or the Bainbridge office at (912) 248-2618.
