Georgia Department of Labor schedules veterans job fair in Columbus
ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Columbus Career Center and the Association of United States Army (AUSA) will co-sponsor the 13th annual job fair for employers, veterans, personnel recently separated from active duty, and other job seekers in the area. The event will be held Wednesday, May 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Benning Club, located in Building 128 at Fort Benning in Columbus.
Commissioner Thurmond said, "This job fair is designed to bring employers and organizations in the Columbus area together with veterans and other job seekers who are looking for employment or career guidance. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services to help them reach their full workplace potential."
The event will feature about 170 employers who will be hiring to fill current job openings. In addition, other employers will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers, while other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings.
Among the employers expected to participate in the event include: Aaron's, Accounting Principals, AFLAC, Alexander Electric, American Staffing, Army and Air Force Exchange Service, AutoZone, Best Buy, BF Goodrich, Bradley-Morris, Carolina Handling, Cessna, Columbus Regional Healthcare, Columbus Specialty Hospital, Composite Construction Systems, Covenant Transport, Discovery Toys, Duracell, Georgia Regional Hospital, Georgia Troops To Teachers, Golden's Foundry, Hughston Clinic, Industrial Manufacturing, Kysor Warren, Liberty National Life, Northrop Grumman, Ritch Electric, Roehl Transport, Samson Trailways, St. Francis Hospital, State Farm Insurance, Synovus, Taco Bell, Taylor Motors, TSYS, Valley Healthcare System, Verizon Wireless, VIP Office Furniture and Supply, Wachovia, Wackenhut, Waffle House, Werner Enterprises, Westaff, and Wyndham Garden Hotel, along with several law enforcement and governmental agencies.
