Georgia Department of Labor schedules business expo/job fair in Fitzgerald
ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Tifton Career Center and several other local organizations will jointlysponsor a business exposition and job fair for employers and job seekers in the Fitzgerald and Ocilla area.
Other event sponsors include: the Tift Area Employer Committee, East Central Technical College, Colony Business Association, Irwin County Family Connection, Fitzgerald Chamber of Commerce, and the Ocilla Chamber of Commerce.
The 3rd annual business expo/job fair will be held Thursday, May 29, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at East Central Technical College, located at 667 Perry House Rd. in Fitzgerald.
Commissioner Thurmond said, "This job fair is designed to bring employers and organizations in the Fitzgerald area together with job seekers who are looking for employment or career guidance. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services to help them reach their full workplace potential."
The event will feature about 20 employers who will be hiring to fill current job openings. In addition, other employers will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers, while other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings.
Among the employers expected to participate in the event include: American Blanching, Avon Products, City of Albany's Human Resources Office, Department of Juvenile Justice, Dorminy Medical Center, Forest Park Police Department, Gwinnett County Police Department, Labor Finders, Norbord, PCC Airfoils, Planters First, Premium Waters, Southern Veneer Products, Target Distribution, Tender Care, Tift Health Care, Tift Regional Medical Center, and the U.S. Border Patrol.
