Georgia Department of Labor schedules career/job fair for Tift high school students
ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Tifton Career Center, the Tift Area Employer Committee, and PLIGHT will sponsor a career/job fair for Tift County High School students.
PLIGHT, an acronym for Proud Loving Individuals Giving a Hand to Teens, will join with the school's guidance counselors to sponsor the 7th annual career/job fair Wednesday, April 16, from 9:30-11:10 a.m. at the Tift County High School gymnasium.
Commissioner Thurmond said, "This career and job fair is designed to bring Tifton area employers and organizations together with local high school students who are seeking employment or career guidance. The students will receive information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services designed to help them reach their full workplace potential. I encourage the employers and high school students to participate again this year, so that this year's event will be just as successful as the other six events have been."
The event will feature about 20 employers who will be hiring to fill current job openings. In addition, other employers will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the students, while other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings.
Among the employers expected to participate in the event include: Avon, First Community Bank, Georgia State Patrol, Harvey's, Kids Advocacy Coalition, Maria's Personal Training, Marshall's Learning Center, South Georgia Banking Company, Spa and Image by Lyn Burnette, Target Distribution, Tift County EMS, Tift County E-911, Tift County Public Schools, Tift Health Care, Tift County Recreational Department, Tift Regional Medical Center, Tift Area YMCA, U. S. Navy, and Wellcare of Georgia.
