Georgia Department of Labor schedules veterans job fair in Augusta
ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Augusta Career Center will jointly-sponsor a job fair at Fort Gordon for employers, veterans, personnel recently separated from active duty, and other job seekers in the area. Other job fair sponsors include: the Association of United States Army (AUSA), the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
The 14th annual event will be held Tuesday, May 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Army Reserve Center, which is Building No. 14401, located at 15th and Lane Ave. at Fort Gordon.
Commissioner Thurmond said, "This job fair is designed to bring employers and organizations in the Augusta area together with veterans and other job seekers who are looking for employment or career guidance. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services to help them reach their full workplace potential."
The event will feature more than 40 employers who will be hiring to fill current job openings. In addition, other employers will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers, while other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings.
Among the employers expected to participate in the event include: Atlanta Electrical Contractors, Century 21, Charlotte Fire Department, Charlotte Mecklenburg, Chenega Federal Systems, City of Atlanta, Civilian Jobs, Clarke County Sheriff's Office, Cobb County Police Department, Columbia County Sheriff's Office, Compass North Group, Cox Communications, CREE, Data Path, Department of Juvenile Justice, DIA, EMBARQ, Georgia Department of Corrections, Georgia State Patrol, General Dynamics, Helmets To Hard Hats, Huntsville Police Department, ITT Systems Division, L-3 COM, Lear Siegler, Lockheed Martin, Mantech, Militaryhire.com, OPM, RLM Communications, South Carolina Department of Corrections, Shaw Industries, Sizemore, Southern Company, T-Mobile, Troops To Teachers, U. S. General Services, U.S. Border Patrol, and U.S.A. Defense Jobs.
