Deadline to apply for jobs with Kia draws near
ATLANTA The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) announced today that the deadline to apply for jobs with Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Inc. (KMMG) is rapidly approaching and that the department is assisting applicants as long as the process is open. Applications will be accepted through Thursday, Feb. 7.
The three types of manufacturing jobs available at the plant are tool and die, maintenance, and production.
"This is a great opportunity to apply for one of the 2,500 good-paying production jobs at the Kia Motors plant under construction in West Point," said State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond. "While experience in auto manufacturing is a plus, it is not a requirement. The company will consider other types of work experience and provide the necessary training."
Applications are only being taken via the Internet at www.kiajobsingeorgia.com. While applications can be filed from any computer with Internet access, the GDOL is providing Internet access to those who need it through its 53 career centers across the state and at a temporary GDOL Kia Recruitment Center located at West Georgia Technical College in LaGrange.
Thurmond said, "We want to insure that all Georgia job seekers have Internet access to the Kia application process. Also, we know that many good workers may be hesitant to apply because they have limited computer skills, or may be intimidated by the online-only application process. We want them to know that our staff are available to assist them. I encourage everyone who is interested to apply."
The labor department's career centers are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To locate GDOL career centers, visit www.dol.state.ga.us. The Kia Recruitment Center is located in Building E at 303 Fort Drive in LaGrange. To schedule an appointment, call or visit the nearest GDOL career center or call 1-877-DOLKia1 (1-877-365-5421). Also, staff at any GDOL Career Center will be able to answer questions or provide additional information.
Applicants who apply toward the end of the application period have the same opportunity for employment as those who applied early. It is an applicant's education, training, and work experience that will determine if he or she is qualified. It is vital that this information be as accurate, complete, and detailed as possible. Applications must include a complete job history, including addresses and contact information for past employers, job titles and dates of employment, along with past and current residences and current contact information.

Applicants must also include detailed education and training background, including names of all educational institutions attended, dates attended, and information on all certificates, diplomas, and degrees awarded, as well as special training received. Applicants are encouraged to have this information readily available when completing an application. The online application process cannot be interrupted without having to start over.
Once an applicant has applied to Kia for work, the application will be handled exclusively by the company. No further contact with Kia, or the labor department, is required. After reviewing all applications, Kia will select 5,000 applicants for the next step in the hiring process. All applicants selected will be notified by Kia Motors, not by the labor department.
