Georgia Department of Labor schedules career fairs in Conyers/Covington
ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor will sponsor two career fairs on Thursday, Feb. 28, for employers and job seekers in the Rockdale-Newton County area.
One career fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Springfield Baptist Church, 3001 Old Salem Rd. in Conyers, while the second will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at DeKalb Technical College's Covington Campus, 16200 Alcovy-Jersey Rd. in Covington.
Commissioner Thurmond said, "These career fairs are designed to bring employers and organizations in Rockdale and Newton counties together with job seekers who are looking for employment or career guidance. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services to help them reach their full workplace potential."
The two events are expected to feature about 45 employers that will be hiring to fill current job openings. In addition, other employers will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers, while other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings.
Employers expected to participate in the Conyers event include: Abacus Staffing Services, Allied Barton Security Service, Army National Guard, AT&T, Biolab, a Chemtura Company, Champion Fit, City of Atlanta Police Department, Covington Police Department, Family Practice Partners, Georgia Perimeter College, Home Depot, John Deere, Kelly Services, Metro State Prison Complex, Newton County Schools, Pinpoint It Services, Primerica Financial Services, Resource Manufacturing, Rockdale County Public Schools, Rockdale County Sheriff's Office, Rockdale County's Human Resources Office, Verizon Wireless, Waffle House, and Wealth Management Financial.
Employers expected to participate in the Covington event include: ADDECO, DAV, Emergency One Security, Fed Ex Ground, Georgia Department of Revenue, Manpower, Nisshinbo Automotive, Orkin Pest Control, Perimeter Staffing, Solo Cup, Spherion, U.S. Army, Volt Accounting and Finance, and World Financial Group.
