Thousands expected to apply for Kia jobs
LAGRANGE The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) announced today that it is assisting Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Inc. (KMMG) in taking applications for 2,500 production jobs at the company's new plant under construction in West Point. The three types of manufacturing jobs available at the plant are tool and die, maintenance, and production. As many as 30,000 job seekers are expected to apply.
Applications are only being taken via the Internet at www.kiajobsingeorgia.com and will be accepted through Feb. 7. While applications can be filed from any computer with Internet access, the GDOL is providing Internet access to those who need it.
State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said, "The Georgia Department of Labor is committed to helping Kia meet its employment needs by insuring that all Georgia job seekers have access to the application process. We are providing Internet access through our 53 career centers located across the state. A temporary GDOL Kia Recruitment Center, located at West Georgia Technical College in LaGrange, will provide assistance to job seekers in the area surrounding the Kia plant during this massive hiring event."
The labor department's career centers are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To locate GDOL career centers, visit www.dol.state.ga.us.
The Kia Recruitment Center is located in Building E at 303 Fort Drive. Job seekers must have an appointment before coming to the temporary center. To schedule an appointment, call or visit the nearest GDOL career center or call 1-877-DOLKIA1 (1-877-365-5421). Also, staff at any GDOL Career Center will be able to answer questions or provide additional information.
An applicant's education, training, and work experience will determine if he or she is qualified. It is vital that this information be as accurate, complete, and detailed as possible. Applications must include a complete job history, including addresses and contact information for past employers, job titles and dates of employment, along with past and current residences and current contact information.
Applicants must also include detailed education and training background, including names of all educational institutions attended, dates attended, and information on all certificates, diplomas, and degrees awarded, as well as special training received. Applicants are encouraged to have this information readily available when completing an application. The online application process cannot be interrupted without having to start over.

Kia hiring last add
Once an applicant has applied to Kia for work, the application will be handled exclusively by the company. No further contact with Kia, or the labor department, is required. After reviewing all applications, Kia will select 5,000 applicants for the next step in the hiring process. All applicants selected will be notified by Kia Motors, not by the labor department.
