Georgia Department of Labor schedules veterans job fair in Conyers
ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Covington Career Center and other local veterans' organizations will sponsor a job fair for veterans, personnel recently separated from active duty, and other job seekers in the area.
The job fair will be held Thursday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the American Legion Post No. 77, located off Highway 138 at 647 Legion Rd. N. E. in Conyers. Another sponsor of the event will include the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization.
Commissioner Thurmond said, "This job fair is designed to bring employers and organizations in the Conyers area together with veterans and other job seekers who are looking for employment or career guidance. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services to help them reach their full workplace potential."
The event will feature about 30 employers that will be hiring to fill current job openings. In addition, other employers will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers, while other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings.
Among the employers expected to participate in the event include: AT&T, Archwood Protection, Corp Solutions, Department of Juvenile Justice, Dynasty Financial, Emergency One Security, H&R Block, Kelly Services, Komatsu, Nisshinbo, Nurse and Care, Orkin, Premier Staffing, Primerica Financial Services, Rockdale County government, Solo Cup, Wagner Service, and U.S. Army and Army National Guard.
