Georgia Department of Labor schedules job fair in Waycross
ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Waycross Career Center and several other local organizations will sponsor a job fair for employers and job seekers in the area.
The job fair will be held Thursday, Aug. 30, from 3-6 p.m. at The Waycross Depot, located at 317 Plant Ave. in Waycross. Other sponsors include the Downtown Waycross Development Authority, the Greater Satilla Area Employer Committee, and the Okefenokee Area Development Authority.
Commissioner Thurmond said, "This job fair is designed to bring employers and organizations in the Waycross area together with job seekers who are looking for employment or career guidance. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services to help them reach their full workplace potential."
The event will feature about 20 employers that will be hiring to fill current job openings. In addition, other employers will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers, while other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings.
Among the employers expected to participate in the event include: Carolina Skiff, Cornell Companies of Folkston, Department of Juvenile Justice, Enhanced Recovery Corporation, Flash Foods, Hydraulic.Net LLC, Kelly Services, Manpower, Randstad Works Solution, Satilla Regional Medical Center, Tender Care, Ware State Prison, and the Ware County Board of Education, Sheriff's Office, Fire Department, and 911 emergency services.
