Georgia Department of Labor schedules job fair in Columbus
ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Columbus Career Center and the University of Phoenix will cosponsor a job fair for employers and job seekers in the area.
The event will be held Thursday, July 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the campus of the University of Phoenix, located at 4747 Hamilton Rd. in Columbus.
Commissioner Thurmond said, "This job fair is designed to bring employers and organizations in the Columbus area together with job seekers who are looking for employment or career guidance. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services to help them reach their full workplace potential."
The event will feature about 75 employers that will be hiring to fill current job openings. In addition, other employers will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers, while other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings.
Among the employers expected to participate in the event include: Accounting Principals, AFLAC, Auburn Police Department, Avon, Brinks Home Security, Canterbury Health Facility, Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, Columbus Police Department, Columbus Regional Health Care, Columbus 911, Custom Stage Services, CVCC, DeKalb County Police Department, Department of Juvenile Justice, Express Personnel, Flexible Personnel Services, Global Personnel Services, H&R Block, Home Interiors, LaGrange Police Department, 5 Linx Eagle, Muscogee County Sheriff's Office, Northrop Grumman, Omega Training Group, Phenix City Police Department, Pre-Paid Legal, Primerica, Road America, Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute, Sonic Drive-Up, Tahitian Noni, West Central Georgia Regional Hospital, as well as the U. S. Army, Border Patrol, and Navy.
