Georgia Department of Labor's Athens Career Center to relocate on Friday
ATLANTA The Georgia Department of Labor announced today that its Athens Career Center will move into its new facility at 150 Evelyn C. Neely Dr. this coming Friday, with employment-related services available that same day. Then on Tuesday, July 3, the department's Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) office will also move into the new facility.
"We are pleased to be able to provide -- under one roof -- one-stop shopping for all of our employers, job seekers, and vocational rehabilitation customers," Commissioner Thurmond said. "This new career center will be the most accessible government facility for people with disabilities in Georgia."
Employment-related services include: job listings, job search workshops, unemployment insurance, labor market information, and a resource library, along with computers, printers, and fax machines.
Wednesday, June 27, will be the last day of full-service operations at the department's existing career center, located at 472 North Ave. Limited services will be available in the lobby of the building and via telephone on Thursday, June 28.
Friday, June 29, will be the last day of full-service operations at the department's Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) office at 125 Athens West Parkway. Limited services will be available at the VR office on Monday, July 2.
