Labor department schedules Macon area job fair/career expo
ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Macon Career Center and Central Georgia Technical College will cosponsor a job fair and career expo for employers and job seekers in the area. The event will be held Thursday, March 15, from 1-5 p.m. in the technical college's J Building, 3300 Macon Tech Dr. in Macon.
Commissioner Thurmond said, "This job fair and career expo is designed to bring Macon area employers and organizations together with students, veterans, and others who are seeking employment or career guidance. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services designed to help them reach their full workplace potential."
The event will feature about 40 employers that will be hiring to fill current job openings. In addition, other employers will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers, while other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings.
Among the employers expected to participate in the event include: Adecco Employment Agency, Bell South, BB&T Bank, Capital City Bank, Carpenters Local No. 144, City of Albany's Human Resources Office, Coliseum Health System, Cox Communications, Courageous Home Care, CVS Pharmacy, Department of Corrections, Drive Smart Car and Trucks, Enercon Enpower LLC, FedEx Ground, Freudenberg Texbond LP, Fulton County Sheriff's Office, Georgia Farm Bureau, General Steel Company/Macon Iron and Paper Stock, Goodwill Industries, Home Nurse, Home and Garden Part, Ikon Office Solutions, Image Staffing Services, Jeff Smith Automotive, Macon Police Department, Medical Center of Central Georgia Career Placement, Optimum Health Care, Pyrotechnic Specialties, Randstad Work Solutions, Richmond Cold Storage, Standard Technology, Spherion, Target Stores, Total Logistic Control, UCAPA (IBEW 1316), and WGXA Fox 24 TV.
