Job openings now available on television in Meriwether, Harris and Talbot counties
ATLANTA -- State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that Georgia JobTV, a unique service that allows television viewers to search for jobs and further their careers from the convenience of their homes, is now available in Meriwether, Harris, and Talbot counties.
Georgia JobTV is seen over Manchester Channel 10, a service of the Ploener Radio Group. The station is seen on channel 10 on Charter Communications and Georgia Broadband cable systems. JobTV is broadcast Monday through Friday in two-hour segments from 7-9 a.m. and 10 p.m. to midnight.
"We're excited about partnering with Manchester Channel 10 to provide this valuable, state-of-theart service to job seekers and employers," said Commissioner Thurmond. "It's a great example of how the Georgia Department of Labor is using technology to better serve Georgians. We're already serving the tri-county area through our career centers in Columbus and LaGrange and the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation. JobTV allows us to broaden our services in this area."
"We're excited about the new partnership we now have with the Georgia Department of Labor in providing JobTV to our viewers in the tri-county area," said Ty Baxley, general manager of Manchester Channel 10 and WFDR 94.5 FM/AM 1370. This is a great service provided to our community from Ploener Radio Group."
JobTV provides 160 job openings in the private and public sectors listed with the Georgia Department of Labor in the tri-county area. The job listings are updated each weekday. Each listing includes the job title, location, salary, education and experience requirements, and a job number. Job seekers should use the job number when visiting any of the state labor department's 53 career centers to obtain additional information, or to inquire about applying for the job. Labor department staff will refer all qualified applicants to the employers for their consideration.
In addition to current job listings, Georgia JobTV provides video reports about career development and services available to job seekers and employers, as well as useful career-related tips.
The residents of Meriwether County are served by the Georgia Department of Labor's LaGrange Career Center, while the Columbus Career Center serves residents of Harris and Talbot counties. Operating hours for both career centers are 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Job openings are also available on the labor department's Website at www.dol.state.ga.us.
