Columbus/Fort Benning VFW job fair scheduled
ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Columbus Career Center, Clear Channel Radio, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) will sponsor a job fair for veterans and other job seekers in the area.
Commissioner Thurmond said, "I strongly urge Columbus area employers to give returning veterans full consideration as they seek to fill vacancies or upgrade their workforce. During their service to our country, these brave men and women have learned valuable job skills that can be easily adapted to jobs in the civilian workplace. And, this job fair will provide an excellent opportunity for employers to come together with Columbus area job seekers who have military experience."
The job fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on two consecutive days: Wednesday, Sept. 27, and Thursday, Sept. 28. It will be held at VFW Post 665, located at 1824 Victory Dr. in Columbus. The two-day event is expected to feature about 80 employers, with about 40 employers participating each day.
