Savannah area job fair scheduled
ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Savannah Career Center will host a job fair for employers and job seekers in the area.
The job fair will be held Monday, Aug. 21, from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at 5520 White Bluff Rd. in Savannah, the site of the career center. The event will feature about 40 employers.
Commissioner Thurmond said, "This job fair will bring employers and organizations together with job seekers who are seeking career guidance and possible future employment. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services designed to help them reach their full workplace potential."
Representatives from area businesses will be on hand to display their businesses to the public and discuss possible employment opportunities with their companies. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings.
Among the employers expected to participate in the event include: AirTran, Arizona Chemical, Caremaster Medical, Chatham Animal Hospital, Chatham Area Transit, Chatham County Sheriff's Department, Comcast, Dish Network, Dollar Tree, Distribution Center, Engelhard Corporation, Federal Express (Ground), First Students, Georgia Pacific Gypsum, Georgia Ports Authority, Gift Wrap Company, Global Ship Systems, Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, Icon, International Paper (Mill Plant), Home Depot (The Store), Home Depot Distribution Center, Memorial Health University, Kelly Services, Norrell, Olsten Staffing Services, Office Team, Pepsi Bottling Group, Rail Links, Sam's Club (Pooler), Savannah Police Department (S.C.M.P.D), Savannah Sugar Refinery, Savannah Technical College, Sullivan's Staffing, Sitel Corporation, Tandem Staffing, Target, Terminal Investment, Temcor, Transportation Security Administration, and Universal Food and Beverage Company.
