Tifton area veterans job fair scheduled at ABAC
ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Tifton Career Center and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) will jointly-sponsor a job fair for veterans, active-duty military personnel, their dependents, students, and other job seekers.
Commissioner Thurmond said, "I strongly urge Tifton area employers to give returning veterans full consideration as they seek to fill vacancies or upgrade their workforce. During their service to our country, these brave men and women have learned valuable job skills that can be easily adapted to jobs in the civilian workplace. And, this job fair will provide an excellent opportunity for employers to come together with Tifton area job seekers who have military experience."
The job fair will be held Thursday, June 29, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Carlton Center on the ABAC campus, 2802 Moore Highway in Tifton. Several organizations will be available to assist veterans with their educational and health benefits. In addition to the general public, the job fair will also be open to students from ABAC and other schools from the surrounding area. The event is expected to feature more than 40 employers. Representatives from area businesses will be on hand to interview job applicants and discuss possible employment opportunities with their companies. Applicants should bring information on their work history, up-dated resumes, and dress appropriately.
