Labor Department schedules Gwinnett area career fair
ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Gwinnett Career Center and the Gwinnett Employer Committee will cosponsor a career fair for employers and job seekers in the area.
Commissioner Thurmond said, "This career fair is designed to bring Gwinnett area employers and organizations together with job seekers who are looking for career guidance and possible future employment. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services designed to help them reach their full workplace potential."
The career fair will be held Monday, Nov. 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2211 Beaver Ruin Rd., Suite 160 in Norcross, the site of the career center. The event will feature about 40 employers.
Representatives from area businesses will be on hand to display their businesses to the public and discuss possible employment opportunities with their companies. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings. Representatives of the career center will help job seekers develop their resumes.
Among the employers expected to participate in the event include: Atlanta Check Cashers, Atlanta Electrical Contractors' Association, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Aviation Institute of Maintenance, Aaron's Sales and Leasing, Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, Etcon Staffing, Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, Gwinnett County Fire Services, Gwinnett County Police Department, Jackson Hewitt Tax Service, Kaplan University, Lake Lanier Islands, POPEYES Chicken, Resource Manufacturing, Spring Hill College, Strayer University, Target, The Home Depot, Verizon Wireless, Waste Industries, Waffle House, and WIKA Instruments.
