Georgia Workforce and Touch the Future-Transition Conference kicks off tomorrow in Athens
ATLANTA The 2006 Georgia Workforce and Touch the Future-Transition Conference officially kicks off tomorrow, Oct. 31, at 9 a.m. at the Athens Classic Center. The conference will continue through Friday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m.
This is the first time that the two annual conferences -- the Workforce Conference, which focuses on employment-related issues, and the Touch the Future Conference, which focuses on issues surrounding assistive technology and education for people with disabilities -- have been held simultaneously. This year's conference will celebrate the fifth anniversary of the merger of the Georgia Department of Human Resources Division of Rehabilitation Services and the Georgia Department of Labor.
The conference is designed to allow participants to explore state-of-the-art tools, techniques, principles, strategies, and innovative technologies that will help Georgians prepare for future workplace success. General sessions with noted speakers and workshops on a variety of topics will be held throughout the conference, which is expected to attract about 2,000 attendees.
NOTE: Representatives of the news media attending the conference should register at the media sign-in booth located in the registration area, where they will be given press passes. For the large general sessions, a table is reserved for the media and audio outlets will be available. A representative from the labor department's communications office will be available to provide assistance.
