Labor department to help Keystone Foods recruit workers in Columbus
ATLANTA The Georgia Department of Labor's Columbus Career Center will help a global manufacturer, the Eufaula Division of Keystone Foods, fill more than 50 job openings for workers in the poultry industry.
"We're pleased to help connect job seekers in the Columbus area with the jobs offered by Keystone Foods," said State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond. "I encourage everyone who may be interested to take full advantage of this opportunity."
The career center will sponsor a mass recruitment for the company Tuesday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 700 Veterans Parkway in Columbus, the site of the career center.
The labor department will help the company take applications for employees to work on an assembly line, where they will stand and use various hand tools. No experience is necessary, but the company will conduct a drug screening test of all its workers. Interviews will be held for possible on-the-spot hiring.
For more information about the recruitment, contact the labor department's Columbus Career Center at (706) 649-7423.
The career center provides job seekers and employers with a wealth of new information and resource services, modern technology, and a customer-focused, state-of-the-art business environment. The Georgia Department of Labor has enhanced its services to customers with the development of a new and improved web site. The on-line resource gives information on the various services and programs operated by the labor department and other Georgia workforce partners. Additionally, the web site helps equip workers and new entrants into the job market with the tools and information needed to evaluate career options, prepare for work, and find the right job. It also provides employers with an abundance of workforce-related information. The site may be accessed at www.dol.state.ga.us.
