Labor department to sponsor unemployment insurance seminar in McDuffie County
ATLANTA The Georgia Department of Labor's Thomson Career Center, the ThomsonMcDuffie Chamber of Commerce, and the East Central Georgia Employer Committee will sponsor an unemployment insurance seminar for employers in the area.
The employer committee is a group of local business representatives who establish and maintain a working relationship between the employer community and the career center.
Designed primarily for managers, supervisors, lead employees, and human resource personnel, the seminar will be held Wednesday, Sept. 15, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon in the campus auditorium of Augusta Technical College, 388 Tech Dr. in Thomson.
The seminar will include: an overview of the unemployment insurance program, understanding unemployment insurance taxes, what happens when a claim is filed, what examiners look for in a claim, the appeals process and how to prepare, unemployment insurance for temporary staffing, and services for employers. An unemployment insurance analyst in the labor department's Policy and Procedures office in Atlanta will conduct the seminar.
The cost of the seminar is $30 per person. Since seating will be limited, a registration deadline has been set for Monday, Sept. 13.
