Nominations for Focus on Abilities Awards due by September 6
ATLANTA -- The Fifth Annual Focus on Abilities Awards luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, at the First United Methodist Church in Bremen. The luncheon will honor individuals with disabilities, employers, and teachers from Haralson, Paulding, and Polk counties, and the Bremen City Schools.
Nominations are being accepted for the following six award categories from Haralson, Paulding, and Polk counties: Employee of the Year, Employer of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Student of the Year, Post-Secondary Student of the Year, and Outstanding Service, a single award to an individual from either of the three counties Haralson, Paulding, and Polk. Individuals with disabilities who have demonstrated outstanding performance on the job or in school, as well as employers and teachers who have assisted them, are eligible to be nominated for an award.

The deadline to submit nominations for award consideration is Monday, September 6.
The Georgia Department of Labor's Cedartown Career Center and the Vocational Rehabilitation office in Dallas, along with the Focus on Abilities (FOA) Council, will organize the luncheon. The FOA Council is composed of public and private sector organizations and employers. The Council is currently recruiting new members to organize next year's FOA luncheon.
