Labor department to co-sponsor workers' compensation seminar in Moultrie
ATLANTA The Georgia Department of Labor's Moultrie Career Center, Moultrie Technical College, and the Colquitt County Employer Committee will sponsor a workers' compensation seminar next week for employers in the area.
The employer committee is a group of local business representatives who establish and maintain a working relationship between the employer community and the career center.
Entitled "Workers' Compensation: Making It Work for You," the seminar will be held Thursday, Dec. 9, from 8 a.m. to noon at Moultrie Technical College, 800 Veterans Parkway in Moultrie. Albany attorney Robert Goldsmith, an expert on the laws of workers compensation, will conduct the seminar.
The seminar will focus on the workers' compensation program, which deals with workers being injured on their jobs. It is designed for human resource personnel, supervisors, team leaders, managers, chief-executive officers, consultants, and small business owners.
The cost of the seminar is $25 per person. For more information about the seminar, or to register, contact Employment Marketing Representative (EMR) Voleta Yarbrough of the Moultrie Career Center at (229) 891-7147.
The career center provides job seekers and employers with a wealth of new information and resource services, modern technology, and a customer-focused, state-of-the-art business environment. The Georgia Department of Labor has enhanced its services to customers with the development of a new and improved web site. The on-line resource gives information on the various services and programs operated by the labor department and other Georgia workforce partners. Additionally, the web site helps equip workers and new entrants into the job market with the tools and information needed to evaluate career options, prepare for work, and find the right job. It also provides employers with an abundance of workforce-related information. The site may be accessed at www.dol.state.ga.us.
