WILLIAM CARTER CO. WINS LABOR DEPARTMENT'S AWARD FOR WORKPLACE SAFETY
ATLANTA -- -- State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that The William Carter Co. in Milner has been presented a Private Sector Award for its outstanding workplace safety program.
The Private Sector Award is one of the top 10 statewide awards presented annually by the Georgia Department of Labor which recognize outstanding achievement in preventing workplace injuries and illnesses.
"Each year, the labor department honors the achievements of Georgia employers in workplace safety," said Thurmond. "Our employers represent some of the best in recognizing the importance of safety and the impact it has on the health of our workers and the enterprises they serve. We all benefit from the efforts of employers to maintain a safe work environment. We congratulate The William Carter Co. on winning a Private Sector Award."
Earl Everett, director of the labor department's Safety Engineering Division, presented the award to Jim Eidson, the plant manager, at the recent Georgia Safety, Health, and Environmental Conference in Savannah.
"Our employees believe safety is a way of life," said Eidson, "not just the current trend. This belief stems from the commitment and support of all levels of management and has resulted in greatly improved safety and health of all employees."
