ERGONOMICS SEMINAR SET FOR AMERICUS JANUARY 18
ATLANTA -- The Georgia Department of Labor's Americus Career Center and the Americus Employer Committee will co-sponsor a seminar next month on ergonomics, or biotechnology, in the workplace.
Entitled "Practical Aspects of Ergonomics," the seminar will be held Friday, January 18, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in the John M. Pope Technology Center at South Georgia Technical College, 1583 Southerfield Road in Americus. The cost of the seminar, which includes a continental breakfast, will be $20 for employer committee members and $25 for non-members.
The seminar will focus on work site analysis, hazard prevention and control, training and education, and medical management. It will also give an overview of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) standards on ergonomics.
The seminar will be conducted by Leonard Bevill, chief executive officer of Macon Occupational Medicine, one of the most comprehensive occupational health programs in the state.
Bevill holds a bachelor of science degree in therapy and a master of science degree in exercise science, specializing in ergonomics and biomechanics from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro.
He has 10 years experience in a variety of occupational health programs in various industries, and has obtained specialized certifications, including ergonomic evaluator, work capacity evaluator, and impairment evaluation specialist.
