LABOR DEPARTMENT'S HOUSTON COUNTY OFFICE RELOCATES TO NEW FACILITY IN WARNER ROBINS
ATLANTA -- The Georgia Department of Labor's Houston County office has moved to a more central location in Warner Robins to better serve employers and job seekers in Houston, Peach, and Twiggs counties.
On May 1, the office moved into a new building at 96 Cohen Walker Drive in Warner Robins to provide more office space and parking facilities for its customers in the three-county area. The new 12,500 square-foot facility has parking for about 100 automobiles.
"We have so much more office and parking space at the new building," said office manager Pat Newman, who pointed out that the previous facility had only 2,200 square feet of office space and off-street parking to accommodate only about a dozen automobiles. Prior to the recent move, the office had been located at 741-A Main St. in Perry since 1988. The office was originally located in Warner Robins.
The new office is a full-service facility that provides employment assistance, job-search workshops, job training information, labor market data, and unemployment insurance benefits to area residents. It features a top-quality resource center that offers up-to-date computer-based information on job search techniques, along with the latest books and videos, and computer software and books on filling out applications and developing resumes and cover letters to find jobs.
In addition to applications, resumes, and cover letters, the department provides tips to job seekers on telephone contacts and interviewing skills, as well as some new concepts, such as personal business cards and how to explain job skills to a prospective employer.

Also included in the services of the office is a computer listing of more than 1.7 million job openings nationwide, information on employment trends, job outlook and wage surveys, referrals to education and job training programs, and employment assistance to all military veterans.
