SCHNEIDER RECEIVES STATE AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO VETERANS
ATLANTA -- Liberty County resident P. J. Schneider, a Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) specialist in the Georgia Department of Labor's Hinesville office, has received a statewide award from a noted veterans organization.
At its recent state convention in Macon, the Georgia Department of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) named Schneider the "Most Outstanding DVOP" in Georgia. The award is given annually to the DVOP specialist who makes the most outstanding contribution to disabled veterans. DVOP specialists are located in 53 labor department offices throughout the state.
In a position he has held for the past five years, Schneider works closely with veterans to provide their employment needs. He specializes in providing case management and job placement assistance to veterans with disabilities, and works with the Veterans Administration (VA) to provide rehabilitative training and job placement services for veterans.
A retired U. S. Army major, Schneider has also served as a member of the Hunter Army Airfield Retiree Council and a transition assistance facilitator for the Army Career Alumni Program at that installation.
A resident of Liberty County for nine years, Schneider is a charter member, past vice-president and currently serves as secretary of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 789. He is also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Liberty County Veterans Council, and the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce's Veteran Affairs Council.

Leadership Program (EXCEL), a leadership training program for a select few employees of the state labor department. He is also a member of the Georgia Chapter of the International Association of Personnel in Employment Security (IAPES).
He is the widower of Tina Schneider, the late executive vice president of the Liberty County Industrial Authority and Chamber of Commerce. They are the parents of four children.
