LABOR DEPARTMENT TO HOLD JOB FAIR FOR OLDER WORKERS TUESDAY

ATLANTA -- State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor will sponsor a job fair next week for older workers, defined by the U.S. Department of Labor as those 55 years of age and older.

The job fair will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, at the labor department's North Metro Atlanta office in the Toco Hills Shopping Center at 2943 North Druid Hills Road. While billed as an older worker job fair, it is open to job seekers of any age.

Employers expected to participate in the job fair include: the Atlanta Housing Authority, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Automatic Data Processing, Bell South Communications, Brinks Security, Burger King, Georgia Department of Community Affairs, Cruise Holidays of Buckhead, Delta Staffing Services, Georgia Division of Rehabilitation Services, DSI Security Services, Embassy Suites Downtown, Emory University and Conference Center Hotel.

Also, Federal Express, Goodwill Industries, Grand Hyatt Hotel, Green Thumb, Guest Service, Hampton Inn and Suites, Jewish Family and Career Services, J.W. Marriott Hotel, Kids R Kids H, London Livery, Macys, Marshalls, MCI World Com, Metro Security, Millennium Security Services, NCBA Senior Employment Program, New Boston Select Staffing, Sears, Signius Communications, Staples, Steak N Shake, Studio Plus, Sunrise Assisted Living Center, The Fountainview Center, The Home Service Store, The Westin At Perimeter, and Upon A Moment's Notice.
