STATE LABOR DEPARTMENT AND GPTV TO TELEVISE JOB FAIR '98 WEDNESDAY
ATLANTA -- The Georgia Department of Labor and Georgia Public Television (GPTV) will hold Job Fair '98 on Wednesday, June 24. The job fair will be televised from 8 p.m.-11 p.m. statewide over the GPTV nine-station network.
The theme of Job Fair '98 is conducting a successful job search. Viewers will be taken through the steps of a job search and shown how to do it successfully. They will be exposed to many useful job-search tools, ranging from how to prepare the right resume to how to dress to make the right impression on a potential employer. GDOL staff and members of our employer committees will be among the experts providing critiques and advice.
The fair will include reports on career development and the job market, interviews with career development experts, 110 job opening listed with the labor department. Viewers will be able to call toll-free during the broadcast to talk with 50 GDOL employment counselors to obtain information about the jobs. Employers will be able to list job openings during the broadcast.
Nationally-known PBS television personalities like Julia Child, John McLaughlin, of The McLaughlin Group, and Norm Abram and Steve Thomas of This Old House will appear on the job fair. There will be several Georgia-based broadcast personalities, as well.
Job Fair '98" and the six previous televised job fairs are a staple of Success Track, the popular and successful television series about career development co-produced by the labor department and GPTV. Success Track is broadcast at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays and at 11:30 a.m. on Sundays over GPTV.
