FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE LABOR DEPARTMENT'S CAMILLA OFFICE WINS TWO IAPES AWARDS

ATLANTA -- The Georgia Department of Labor's Camilla office has won two awards in statewide competition sponsored by the Georgia Chapter of the International Association of Personnel in Employment Security (IAPES), the professional organization of labor department employees.

Camilla's reemployment unit won the Miller Merit Award in the group category. The award is given annually to the group that has made the most effective contribution to the overall development and progress in the field of employment security during the year.

The reemployment unit assists people with the most current job-search techniques, helps them gather labor market information to make the most beneficial job choices and assists them in their return to work as soon as possible.

And Camilla also won the Unemployment Insurance (U.I.) Best First Payment Time Lapse Award, given annually to the office which has the best overall performance in processing initial unemployment insurance claims. The award is based on information taken from computer statistics on each of the labor department's 53 offices.

The awards were presented recently at IAPES' 55th annual educational conference at Jekyll Island.
