FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MANGHAM NAMED LABOR DEPARTMENT'S
ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER OF FIELD SERVICES
ATLANTA -- State Labor Commissioner Marti Fullerton has named Francis Mangham of Gilmer County assistant commissioner of field services for the Georgia Department of Labor. He will direct operations of the department's 53 field offices throughout the state.
"Francis Mangham is ready to hit the ground running," said Fullerton. "He's a 32-year veteran of the department who understands and can work with our field office personnel. He has hands-on experience on the front line serving the public, as well as in the upper levels of management. He's respected by our district directors, local office managers and their staffs, so he'll have their support. I'm confident that Francis will do his usual outstanding job."
A native of Spalding County, Mangham, 53, is a 1962 graduate of Griffin High School, who attended Gordon Military College in Barnesville. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years, prior to joining the labor department in 1966 as an employment interviewer in the Griffin office.
In 1970, Mangham was named a program representative in the department's correctional services unit in Butts County, where he lived until recently. In 1976, he was promoted to regional supervisor for correctional services, and to state testing supervisor in 1985. In 1990, he was again promoted to unit manager for reports and operations. For the past four years, he has served as director of the metro Atlanta field service district.
Mangham is a member of the Georgia Chapter of the International Association of Personnel in Employment Security (IAPES), a professional organization of the nation's labor department employees.
He is the father of two grown children: Brent, 26, of Marietta, and Beth, 24, of Huntington, N. Y.
