SYNTHETIC INDUSTRIES RECEIVES OUTSTANDING EMPLOYER AWARD
ATLANTA -- State Labor Commissioner David Poythress announced today that Synthetic Industries of Chickamauga has been presented a 1997 Success Track Outstanding Employer Award.
"Synthetic Industries' long-standing commitment to workplace safety has made the company a very safe place to work," Poythress said. "In fact, the company has received several safety awards. And, the company's involvement with the newly-formed Habitat for Humanity affiliate in Walker County is an example of its spirit of volunteerism and community service." Synthetic Industries sponsored the first Habitat for Humanity house built in Walker County.
The Outstanding Employer Award is presented jointly by the Georgia Department of Labor and Georgia Public Television (GPTV), which co-produce Success Track, a weekly television program about career and economic issues. The award was created in 1995 to recognize employers who are leaders in providing educational and job-training opportunities and benefit packages which enhance the careers of their employees.
Synthetic Industries is a textile manufacturer of products such as carpet backing and geo-textiles used for landfill liners and erosion control and fiber mesh used to re-enforce concrete. In keeping with a philosophy that its employees are a company's most valuable asset, Synthetic Industries provides a variety of training and education initiatives. One is a viable on-the-job training program for employees who need additional skills.
Synthetic Industries and 10 other award recipients were featured in a special episode of Success Track entitled Investing in People in December. The special will be shown again in the Spring.
The other recipients are Ayres Corp., Albany; Crown Crafts of Calhoun; W.C. Bradley Co. and Synovus Financial Corp., Columbus; Collins and Aikman, Dalton; Roper Corp. of LaFayette; Shorewood Packaging Corp. of Georgia, LaGrange; Armstrong World Industries, Macon; Pepsi Cola of Rome and Coats American of Thomasville.
Success Track is broadcast Thursdays at 7 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. over the nine-station GPTV network.
