Four new members appointed to the Georgia Council on Aging

Governor Roy Barnes recently appointed four new members to the Georgia Council of Aging. The council advises the Governor, the General Assembly, the Board of Human Resources, and all other state agencies on aging issues. It also advocates on the behalf of aging Georgians and their families and provides leadership to the Coalition of Advocates for Georgia's Elderly (CO-AGE).

The new appointees the council on are: Judith E. Hageback, Blue Ridge; Jeffrey L. Riddle , Atlanta; Thomas B. Sherrill, (Dunwoody); and George B. Williams Jr., Sandersville. Ms. Haugeback is the regional director for Southern Home Care Services and former director of the Georgia Department of Human Resources Division of Aging Services. Mr. Riddle, an attorney, is executive director of Senior Citizens Services of Metropolitan Atlanta (SCS) and is active in several community organizations. Mr. Sherrill, a certified financial planner, is a former member of the Georgia House of Representatives and is Chairman-elect of the Greater Georgia Chapter of Alzheimer's Association. Mr. Williams, a retired educator, has served as chairman of the AARP State Legislative Committee and continues to serve as a leader on several Washington County boards.
