HB 86 shown staggering support in both Chambers!

With a vote of 45-1, the bill to "reposition" Division of Aging Services to the Department of Community Health passed the Senate on Tuesday, March 24th. The bill passed the House 160-3 back in February. Only one last stop at the Governor's desk for a signature and HB 86 will come to fruition. We see a nimble and more efficient delivery of services to the elderly in Georgia on the horizon. Thank you Aging Advocates for all your work on this important legislation.

Advocating to RESTORE GBI Cuts!
Aging Advocates have been talking to Conferees about the importance of fighting Elder Abuse in our state and asking that they restore the full amount of funds put in by the House for 8 additional GBI agents for elder abuse investigation. The Senate cut $817,381 to the GBI budget, reducing the eight(8) staff additions to four(4). We will continue to advocate for this restoration until the Budget is finalized.
