On This Day: January 27, 1945
Auschwitz is liberated by Soviet troops
On January 27, 1945, the Soviet army entered Auschwitz and liberated more than 7,000 remaining prisoners, who were mostly ill and dying. Anne Frank's father, Otto, was among the survivors. In 2005, this date was designated by the United Nations General Assembly as International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

In Line for Anne Frank
2016 Atlanta Jewish Film Festival
Join us at the 2016 Atlanta Jewish Film Festival for the screening of In Line for Anne Frank. This documentary presents a collection of interviews with those waiting to enter the historic Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. Their personal reflections are interspersed with heartrending passages from Anne Frank's diary, read aloud in many languages by girls of roughly the same age as Anne.

Speaker Ralston appoints 5 to Commission
Five members were sworn into the board of the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 by Speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives David Ralston. Joining the Commission are Andy Bauman, Jody Franco (reappointment), Rabbi Philip Kranz, Michael Morris, and Robert Wittenstein. Click here to read more.
Governor Deal appoints 5 to Commission
Five members were sworn into the board of the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, after their appointments were announced in October by Governor Nathan Deal. Joining the Commission are Chuck Berk, Dr. Claire D'Agostino (reappointment), Evan Jacobs, Sara Kogon, and Lisa Olens. Dr. Agostino was appointed chair. Click here to read more.
2016 Creative Arts Student Contest
The theme and guidelines for the contest have been announced. All students grades 6-12 in Georgia are elibigle to enter. Click here to learn more.
Distinguished Educator of 2016
The Distinguished Educator award is presented to a full-time Georgia educator of grades 512. Applications must be submitted by April 5, 2016. The winner will receive statewide recognition, a plaque and a $500 stipend for educational materials. Click here for details.

Anne Frank in the World: 1929-1945 is an exhibit by Anne Frank House and Anne Frank Center USA. It is presented in Georgia by the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust and is currently hosted by the City of Sandy Springs.
