Mass Deportations Continue in Amsterdam
The Frank and van Pels families have been hiding in the Secret Annex for nearly three months. Meanwhile, outside the walls of their hiding place, the Nazis and their Dutch collaborators have been rounding up Jews living in Amsterdam for mass deportations to camps in the east since July. Despite such "dismal and depressing news" Anne and the other inhabitants of the Secret Annex are cheered by some special visitors who stay for the night.

2015 MJCCA Book Festival: My Grandfather Would Have Shot Me
Join the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust on as the Community Partner for My Grandfather Would Have Shot Me: A Black Woman Discovers Her Family's Nazi Past on November 19th!
Thursday, 11/19/2015 - 7:30pm Location: MJCCA-Zaban Park 5342 Tilly Mill Road Dunwoody, GA 30338
When Jennifer Teege, a German-Nigerian woman, happened to pluck a library book from the shelf, she had no idea that her life would be irrevocably altered. Recognizing photos of her mother and grandmother in the book, she discovers a horrifying fact: Her grandfather was Amon Goeth, the vicious Nazi commandant chillingly depicted by Ralph Fiennes in Schindler's List--a man known and reviled the world over. The more Teege reads about Amon Goeth, the more certain she becomes: If her grandfather had met her--a black woman--he would have killed her. Teege's discovery sends her on a quest to unearth and fully comprehend her family's haunted history.
