GOSA Announces Tiny Grant Award Winners On June 6, GOSA announced eight award winners for the Tiny Grant Program, a competitive grant opportunity that provides funding to traditional public schools, charter schools, and school districts to implement small-scale programs that directly engage students. Programs funded by Tiny Grants must align with one of the three following priority areas: (a) Applied Learning with a Focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) Education, (b) Blended and Personalized Learning, and (c) Birth to Age Eight Language and Literacy Development. Grantees will evaluate the impact of the programs on student achievement and engagement and submit their findings to GOSA at the end of the grant period. The grant award winners and their respective programs are listed below: Applied Learning with a Focus on STEAM Education

GOSA Releases New K-12 Student Discipline Dashboard GOSA recently released the K-12 Student Discipline Dashboard. The dashboard summarizes district- and school-level discipline data for all public schools in Georgia. Aggregate data is provided on in- and out-of-school suspension rates, expulsion, the total number of disciplinary incidents, and the total number of students receiving disciplinary action. Users can filter by school year, district, school, and available subgroups. The dashboard currently includes data from 2014 through 2017. The dashboard also includes an Incident-to-Action Flow Chart that displays how each discipline incident type corresponds to school actions, disaggregated by gender and race/ethnicity. 2018 Governor's Honors Program Begins The Georgia Governor's Honors Program (GHP) is a residential summer program for gifted and talented rising high school juniors and seniors. The 2018 GHP session began in mid-June. 659 students made their way to Berry College for 4 weeks of intensive study. GHP offers nomination

areas in: Agricultural Science, Communicative Arts, Dance, Engineering, Mathematics, Music, Science, Social Studies, Theatre, Visual Arts, and World Languages.
GHP encourages students to learn in innovative ways which allow them to expand upon their mental and creative abilities. As the program moves forward, students will showcase what they have learned through presentations, concerts, and other performances.
