Innovation in Teaching Spotlight: Kaycie Rogers The Innovation in Teaching Competition recognizes and awards Georgia educators who are using innovative strategies to advance student achievement. East Jackson Elementary School's Kaycie Rogers trains her students to go for gold in this unit on robotics. In her unit plan, The Robot Olympics, Ms. Rogers integrates engineering, English Language Arts, mathematics, and social studies standards to teach students about the components of a country and robotics. The second half of the unit is dedicated to building a robot, which will represent the "athlete" in the culminating Robot Olympics. Throughout the unit, students gain skills in research, writing, engineering, and coding. To view a video of the unit plan, click here.
