Recipients of FY2007 Round Two Project Grants Announced

ATLANTA Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) has awarded FY2007 Round Two Project Grant funding to more than thirty Georgia arts organizations. Project Grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations with a demonstrated history and commitment to arts programming. Recipient organizations for this round include cultural and community associations, colleges and universities as well as dance companies and theaters. Based on the use of the award, three types of Project Grants are available: Arts Programs, Touring, and Capacity Building.
"The process was very competitive this year," states Sharon Blake, grants director for the agency. "Each application was reviewed thoroughly for relevant criteria and scored accordingly. The quality of the information received was outstanding." Relevant criteria used for reviewing the applications include organizational capacity, quality of project and community impact. Applicants may request an amount up to the maximum award of $5,000.
For FY2007 Round Two, nearly all of the organizations received the amount requested for a total of $143,250. Although fewer applications were submitted this year, the overall number represents an increase in total funding over previous years.
